One of the world’s most enthralling ensembles, the group are performing all-new material billed as a ‘work in progress’ performance at this extremely intimate venue. A donation will be included within all ticket purchases to the event series’ charity partners, War Child and Music Venue Trust.

The Lexington holds relevance to both BC,NR, who performed there in the early days of the group’s inception, as well as for us, as we were infamously based above the venue in our first four years of opening. The Lexington will commemorate its own special anniversary this year, celebrating 15 years existing as one of the country’s leading independent music venues.

Additional news arrives this week as it’s announced that three of the series’ London shows have now sold out – Arlo Parks and Marika Hackman, who appear next week in a very special, rare performance at Regent’s Park Outdoor Theatre, plus The Moonlandingz and UNIVERSITY at Highbury Garage, as well as Mystery Jets at Hackney EartH. The much-acclaimed new Hastings trio HotWax will now join the bill at the Garage as surprise special guests.

We kickstarted 20th Anniversary summer of events at Glastonbury Festival last weekend, featuring a packed field and tent at an inaugural Friday night Takeover of new area, The Wishing Well, located in The Park arena. The evening included standout appearances from Moonchild Sanelly, Miso Extra plus surprise sets from Jamz Supernova and Joe Goddard from Hot Chip, keeping the field shaking from 11pm until 6am.

All anniversary shows announced so far below:

New York 20th Anniversary Show

Following the announcement of a series of special events in London to commemorate our 20th anniversary we have revealed an additional line-up of live celebrations.

Over the next four months, we will take over stages at festivals including Glastonbury, Latitude and Green Man and showcase our artists across the pond in a very special event in New York City, where we recently opened our first overseas office.

Music fans in New York City can look forward to an epic, multi-artist event at Baby’s All Right on Wednesday 25th September. The Antlers, Mykki Blanco, MICHELLE, Mutual Benefit, Odetta Hartman and Julien Chang will perform as part of the celebrations, representing the extraordinary breadth of our North American artist community.

Tickets are available here.

We will take charge of the first ever Friday night takeover of The Wishing Well at Glastonbury next week, which will see us play host from 11pm-6am in the new area within The Park arena, replacing our legendary annual party at The Rabbit Hole. Keeping in tradition with prior years, much of the line-up will be left to the imagination, but given that prior performances have come from the likes of Arlo Parks, Loyle Carner, Olivia Dean, Fatboy Slim and beyond, the festival’s revellers will be in safe hands. Names that can be revealed for 2024’s outing include Moonchild Sanelly (live), Miso Extra (DJ set), Future Bounce B2B DJs, plus Transgressive DJs.

On Thursday 25th July, we will curate a special line-up in the Sunrise Arena of Latitude Festival, which will be the only stage open on site with a bespoke and exclusive bill, including sets from The WAEVE (Graham Coxon & Rose Elinor Dougall), Mystery Jets, Kinshasa’s KOKOKO!, Hastings’ feverishly tipped HotWax plus a rare DJ set appearance from festival locals, Let’s Eat Grandma.

Those heading to Wales for Green Man can look forward to a takeover of the Friday night entertainment in The Walled Garden, featuring a late night live set from HotWax plus Transgressive DJs. Other artists on our roster appearing over the weekend at Green Man include Arlo Parks, Black Country, New Road, Johnny Flynn, KOKOKO!, Moonchild Sanelly and The WAEVE.

Previously announced performances feature a rare show at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre with Arlo Parks and Marika Hackman. Additionally, evenings at iconic venues around the city will showcase The Moonlandingz, UNIVERSITY, Johnny Flynn & The River Band, The Joy, Mystery Jets, and KOKOKO!. All dates are selling swiftly with further guests to be added at certain shows.

The UK events will be held in association with charity partners War Child and Music Venue Trust, where attendees and guests will have the ability to learn more and offer donations to the respective causes.

To commence our birthday celebrations, we’ve announced a series of very special events in London over the course of the next four months, commencing with a rare show in Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre with Arlo Parks and Marika Hackman, and featuring a slew of its roster from around the world in iconic venues around the city. The shows will be held in association with charity partners War Child and Music Venue Trust, where attendees and guests will have the ability to learn more and offer donations to the respective causes.

Company Partners Toby L, Tim Dellow and Lilas Bourboulon jointly state:

“We are thrilled to celebrate the first twenty years of Transgressive. It’s a harrowing understatement to remark upon what a challenging time it is in the world right now, but we hope that the activities we’re planning can continue to shine a light on the irrepressible, unifying power of music and art, and the potency and strength of the human spirit. To kickstart our anniversary, we wanted to reflect the eclecticism and inclusivity of the company’s roster and culture by putting together some communal moments. Since our earliest days, we’ve curated and staged shows and events, and it felt like the most natural way to share the joy and gratitude that we feel for making it this far.

“And in order to tell a bit more of a London story, we’re revisiting some of the venues that were seminal in our origins – not least the Garage in Highbury, above which the first ever Transgressive office existed. Aside from a severe rodent infestation and the ceiling caving in, and the fact it was soon after mysteriously bolted up and we could never gain entry or access to it ever again, it was very much the starting point for everything: a couple of passionate teenagers with very few resources, but a lot of love and passion, which has now extended to the incredible team and group of artists that we work with today.

“So we’re as excited to see our first ever management artist, Johnny Flynn, perform his biggest ever show at Hammersmith Apollo, as we are to witness South Africa’s incredible a capella band The Joy opening in support. The fact that the Open Air Theatre have kindly opened their doors for a rare summer concert, featuring the incredible double-bill of Arlo Parks and Marika Hackman, is a real treat.

“We will go right back to the beginning with Mystery Jets, one of our first ever signings, when they take over Dalston’s EartH on a Friday night. KOKOKO! from DRC and France will represent the electronic pulse of the company at Village Underground. And we are thrilled, although slightly scared, to announce the return of The Moonlandingz, with support from our brand new signings from Crewe, UNIVERSITY, at the aforementioned Garage.

“We have some more tricks up our sleeves – additional artists to add to these bills, as well as festival stage Takeovers, plus an announcement regarding some special releases and products, which we will share details on shortly. But for now, we feel this is a strong place to get going. To everyone appearing, and everyone due to be attending, plus our partners at FORM who are helping us put on the gigs, thank you. We are also honoured to bring the shows in association with our friends at War Child and Music Venue Trust, two organisations that are committed to essential causes right now (further details below). Let’s make it one to remember.”

To further mark this milestone, the team behind the label have unveiled a bespoke 20th Anniversary logo design, masterminded by their very own Mike Harounoff (Associate Director, Senior A&R & Artist Manager) alongside his partner, graphic designer Lucy Mahony:

“We’ve always aspired for Transgressive to represent a “stamp of quality” on the records we release and that sentiment felt like a good place to start when considering the 20th anniversary logo design. It was a deep dive into all sorts of stamp-based design work to find something that resonated and it set us off on a path that also allowed a shapeshifting approach to the logo – where it can be lots of different things rather than just one – which also felt right for the nature of Transgressive. I’ve always liked design that includes a slogan or message and thought as we were trying to make something that felt personal to us it would be good to read through old interviews the team had done over the years to see how questions were answered – always with positivity. “Good things happen” was taken from a longer response in a conversation a few years back. “Believe in what you do, work hard – and good things happen.” It felt really core to the intention and ethic of Transgressive and the right place to borrow from for a design that will celebrate a truly special 20 years.
