Girl In The Year Above been steadily building a reputation for their incendiary live shows following relentless touring in the UK and Europe over the past year, going on to sell out their own headline shows.
About
Their first recordings include an evocative rendition of ‘Teardrop’ which featured prominently in the ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ film soundtrack, as acclaimed by the song’s originators Massive Attack as well as the movie’s lead actor Cillian Murphy, granting the band a placement in the UK Top-100 Singles Chart. The band’s anthemic first singles proper, ‘Mama, My Heart Is Achin’ and ‘Ode To The Glory Days’ soon followed, with the accompanying 7” long sold out, last seen going for a small fortune on Discogs.
On their latest Single ‘Wet Paint’, Girl In The Year above demonstrate why they are one of the most hotly tipped bands to emerge in recent years. They exquisitely fuse a celtic sound with melodic guitar hooks, driving piano lines and frontwoman Jennifer Ball’s emotional and powerful vocals. The music video has been directed by Dylan Friese-Greene and Jen and the band’s captivating, magnetic performance is beautifully shot.
